SAMMIE (쌤미)

Hello (안녕하세요), my name is Sammie (쌤미) and I am here to introduce myself to all of you lovely readers.

I was born, raised, and still live in New Jersey. When I am not writing, editing, photographing, and all the other things that come with running a site, I commute to New York for my full time job of working as an EDI Specialist for a shoe company. I am half Cuban (My mother) and half Italian, (My father) and speak more Korean than either language they tried desperately to teach me growing up.

I started writing when I was in the fifth grade. At first, it was your run of the mill journal entries. I still have those journals and have looked back on them several times and cringe. It then became stories, of things I wished I had said or done, and soon simply stories of other characters and creatures. I thank my mother forever for the creative writing gene as she is a New York Time Best-Selling author.

I came up with the concept of this site from SAT books I read when I was in high-school. Yes, SAT books (Did you not grasp I was a nerd yet?). The concept of the books were to teach you SAT vocabulary by throwing the words into enjoyable books. I remember one that was a summer romance specifically and I remember reading it several times. Those books made learning enjoyable. And that’s where the idea of Korean From Context stemmed from.

I’m excited to play and explore my own world with this site and I hope you enjoy the journey with and my friends!

Hello (안녕하세요)! My name is Lindsay and I am a co-content creator here at Korean From Context! I was so humbled and excited when 쌤미 asked me to be a part of this amazing site! I love sharing in these experiences with her and you! It’s also helping me learn Korean! Which I will very much need for our Korea trip in 2021! 

I met Sammie in our Creative Writing Class in college (Cliche? Maybe; Destiny? Yes!). Sammie is one of my best friends and we constantly nerd out together over BL Shows & Comics, conventions, the next rising K-pop groups, and other nerdy or fashion things that tickle our fancy. 

I was born, raised, and still live in Pennsylvania. I grew up as a Philly Eagles fan, so watch out! I am a fashion photo stylist, which means I get to play dress up for a living with models on photoshoots. I mostly work for ecommerce websites. But when I am not working that 9 – 5, I enjoy cosplay, anime, manga and my inexcusable obsession with fanfiction. Inuyasha, Yuri on Ice, Attack on Titan and Harry Potter to name a few! 

I am a cat mom to thre cats, Luna Skywalker, Cosmo Kramer, Stella.  감사합니다!
